Tahuna is the native Maori world for riverbank. The name is uniquely New Zealand and is also appropriate as our grapes are grown on alluvial plains alongside the major rivers of the Hawkes Bay and Marlborough regions.

The Tahuna wines are made by Sileni Estate, an internationally respected producer of fine New Zealand wine. The vineyards have been carefully selected to suit the varieties that we produce. Warm, sheltered sites are used for Merlot, Cabernet franc and Semillon, while cooler sites provide ideal flavour development in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Soils are mainly well-drained alluvial gravels, ideal for production of ripe flavours and soft tannins.

We are working towards having all of our wines produced according to the New Zealand Sustainable Viticulture programme. All of our Hawkes Bay vineyards have been certified and we aim to have the Marlborough vineyards ready in near future.

The name is as distinctive as the wines, which are fresh, full flavoured and easy to drink.
